Ogliastra and Donigala were formerly united in one country, Lotzorai, whose most famous monument is the castle of Medusa, an ancient medieval fortress located in the south. The monument was built on a former Punic fortress, raised probably to block the incursions of nuragic, thanks to its strategic position allows to dominate the surrounding valley.
