Ogliastra and Donigala were formerly united in one country, Lotzorai, whose most famous monument is the castle of Medusa, an ancient medieval fortress located in the south. The monument was built on a former Punic fortress, raised probably to block the incursions of nuragic, thanks to its strategic position allows to dominate the surrounding valley. It is located at the top of the hill at the southern entrance of the village, a medieval fortress built on a Phoenician basement and now in ruins, which hides obscure origins: probably constructed in the thirteenth century by judges of the judge of Cagliari or perhaps by the Princess of Navarre as Support station following a shipwreck. The castle, in fact, is still shrouded in many legends and mysteries, while the darkness and the afterlife surround visitors intensely.
