The impressive Volterraio Castle is one of the first things that strikes the visitors as they approach the Elba island, since it is clearly visible from the sea. Dating back to the XIII century, the castle was the oldest fortification of the island, and has always been a shelter for the inhabitants, fleeing from pirates and ravagers.

Recently restored, it was brought to its former glory, allowing the tourists to admire its majesty and the amazing view.
